Meet the team behind ShipOS

Building software is about people—the ones using it and the ones creating it. As ShipOS grows, we thought it was time to introduce the humans behind the platform.

The founding story

Co-founders Maya Patel and David Kim met during a chaotic product launch at their previous startup. Maya, leading design, was frustrated by constant context switching. David, managing engineering, was drowning in status meetings that never moved things forward.

"We realized we were solving the same problem from different angles," Maya recalls. "Design needed visibility into development constraints, and engineering needed clearer communication about design decisions."

Our core team

Engineering is led by Alex Chen, who previously built deployment infrastructure at scale for high-traffic fintech platforms. Alex's philosophy: "Complex problems need simple solutions."

Product sits with Riley Martinez, whose background in user research at a major travel platform brings relentless focus on customer behavior. Riley spends 10 hours weekly in direct customer conversations, tracking everything from user.session_duration to feature.adoption_rate.

Design remains Maya's domain, where she's built a system balancing visual appeal with functional clarity. Every component follows our design-system guidelines for consistency.

Our philosophy

We operate on three principles:

Transparency over hierarchy. Anyone can see what everyone else is working on. Our internal roadmap is the same one customers see.

Progress over perfection. We ship early and iterate based on real usage data.

Async over meetings. Most decisions happen in written form. Meetings are for discussion, not information transfer.

What drives us

The most rewarding part isn't growth metrics—it's messages from teams who launched projects they weren't sure they could pull off. Last month, a Berlin startup used ShipOS to coordinate their first mobile app launch. Their celebration post reminded us why we do this work.

We're still small enough that everyone talks to customers directly. This keeps us grounded in real problems rather than abstract technical challenges.

Want to chat with us? We're always available in our community platforms.
